Private practice with more behind it

A caseload built around defined areas of expertise, rather than general therapy.

Scope to develop your role and, with experience, to create and lead specialist services.

Up to two agreed specialist areas, reflecting your competence, experience and interests.

A current focus on trauma and psychological difficulties associated with injury and physical health.

Referrals matched to those agreed areas and to your availability.

A self-employed, non-exclusive and online-first arrangement.

A minimum of three regular weekly appointment slots, alongside NHS, private or other work.

Autonomy without isolation

You keep responsibility for assessment, formulation and treatment decisions, working within our clinical governance framework. We don’t issue treatment scripts or expect every client to follow the same pathway.

You arrange your own individual supervision. The practice is a planned psychological service with a defined clinical remit; it is not a crisis service.

Psychologists keep the majority of each clinical fee. Our share covers referral development, administration, billing, systems, governance and reinvestment in the practice. Rates vary by role, experience and referral source, and we set out the full terms during recruitment. There are no exclusivity requirements.

More than an associate role

Associate Psychologist. You build a specialist caseload within your agreed areas and take part in the clinical community.

Senior Associate Psychologist. This recognises advanced specialist expertise, clinical leadership, and a wider contribution to colleagues and to the practice.

Specialist Service Line Lead. For experienced psychologists who want to build something larger: pathways, standards, governance, consultation, clinician development and service growth. Leads can propose new areas where there is a strong clinical case for one. Service leadership carries additional remuneration linked to how the service develops, and we set out the full terms during recruitment.

How to join, and who we’re looking for

1

Express interest

Tell us about your professional background, registration, specialist interests and the private practice you want to develop. We recruit selectively and assess competence, not simply years since qualification.

2

Meet us

An initial video conversation about your experience, clinical interests, availability and what you want from Full Lives Psychology. We’ll set out the working arrangements and the full fee structure.

3

Clinical and professional review

If we both want to proceed, we’ll complete professional checks, the associate agreement and onboarding, then agree your specialist areas and regular availability.

4

Start building your caseload

Once onboarded, suitable referrals can be matched to you as they arise within your agreed specialist areas and availability.

We welcome appropriately registered practitioner psychologists whose expertise fits our services: Clinical, Counselling and Health Psychologists, and those with relevant neuropsychology expertise.

We look for strong assessment, formulation and intervention skills, demonstrable specialist competence, and sound independent judgement. Practice should be evidence-based and formulation-led, with high standards of communication and record-keeping, and with registration, indemnity, supervision and governance arrangements in place.

Candidates for senior and service-lead roles should also bring experience in supervision, clinical leadership, governance, service development or pathway design.

Insurer recognition is held by you, not by us. Recognition with Bupa, AXA and WPA is granted to an individual clinician, not to a practice. A clinician who doesn’t yet hold it can’t take insured work with us until they do, and applications take time. If you’re considering joining, it’s worth starting that process early.
